Super bowl Sunday is coming up and I do not
think I am going to be able to watch the game. I am going to have to work
during the game, which really sucks because I think this game is going to be a
good one. It’s a rematch of when the undefeated New England Patriots got upset
by the New York Giants who barely made the playoffs in super bowl XLII. That
was such a good game that was decided with a final drive I hope this super bowl
is just as good. I think I am going to be pulling for the New York Giants because
I want the winner of the super bowl to be in the NFC. Plus I am not the biggest
fan of the New England Patriots I do not want them to win another super bowl,
which would be like four, or five for them. Also I do not really like New
England’s coach Bill Belichick. My only chance of being able to watch the super
bowl is if it does not get busy. The game starts at 6:30 and if it does not get
very busy I can get off work around eight and be done with work just in time
for half. Which is really the best part of any game because as it gets closer
to the end of the game one team is trying to play catch up and going for it
all. I think that the team that is going to be playing catch up is the Patriots
and what Quarter back would you want playing catch up for you better than Tom
Brady one of the best players this year. I say that this game is going to go
down to the finale drive and is going to be very close.

No child left behind?
From our discussions in class about literacy I heard a lot of things that I did not know about. The main thing I learned about is the “No Child Left Behind Act” that was enacted on May 23, 2001. Honestly I did not know very much about the act until we discussed it in class. From what I gathered in class about the act is that I honestly cannot believe it was passed. Starting with the punishment of the schools whose students do not test well. The way they punish them is ridiculous why make it harder on a school that is having trouble getting through to the students. Its like they do not want those schools to improve by giving them those budget cuts. Also if the school continues to have poor scores in certain curriculums they are supposed to give their students the choice to change to another school with better scores. Most of the time the schools that have lower scores are the schools in poorer areas so why punish those schools and make it harder for them to teach the kids I think those schools should not be punished I say that we try and help out those schools and I believe that when we do that we will see the results that they want which are higher test scores. But honestly can we score students literacy by a single scantron test. Any number of things can affect the outcome the score that the student gets, from an illness to the student just being tired. But unfortunately another system that works better has not been discovered yet. That’s why I think we should spend time and money on trying to find a newer better system.

work
I work at a pizza place called Papas Pizza to go. It is all
the way in Weddington, which is about 30 minutes away. Luckily I don’t have to
make that far drive very often because I only have to work on Fridays, Saturdays,
and sometimes on Sunday. Which means that on a good weekend I get about 15 to
20 hours a week. Now you must be thinking why bother driving 30 minutes into
Weddington to go work at some small pizza place on the weekends. The reason is
that I get good tips on my deliveries, because we only deliver to houses that
are in a five-mile radius of the restaurant. My favorite deliveries are the
ones that are right down the road because normally people tip around five bucks
and all I had to do was drive around the corner. Plus I get two dollars out of the
total cost of the delivery as a delivery charge. So normally I get 7 to 10
dollars on every delivery and most of them are just around the corner. I get a
good number of deliveries since I only work weekends and those are really the
only big days for deliveries. Especially on Fridays and Saturdays when I am the
main delivery driver, meaning that I get the most deliveries and the most
hours. Another reason why I just don’t quite my job is friends. I have worked
at that pizza place for almost five years and over the years I have made some
great friends with pretty much everyone that works with me. I am even good
friends with my boss and manager. I have a lot of fun at work because the whole
time I’m at work all we do is joke around and have fun while still being able
to get the work done that needs to be done.

This was my first week at UNCC and my classes are hopefully
not going to be that much of a challenge. Unfortunately I have to go to 9:30
classes on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Which sucks because I
am normally not a morning person, which means that I am going to have to suck
it up and drink some coffee and maybe not stay up all night playing modern
warfare three. On Mondays I don’t have
class until 12:30 to 1:45 and it is pre-calc so Mondays are my day to catch up
on any studying that I may have to do. On Tuesday after my 9:30 class I have a
lab at 2 until 4:45. I have never taken any class that has had over 40 students
in it so I am interested to see how this earth science lab is going to go with
over 100 students. Wednesdays are going to be my busiest day because I have
three classes with only 15 minuets between them. But I am sure that once I find
the fastest routes to class that those 15 minuets will be more than enough time
for me to get from class to class. Then on Thursdays my only class is our
English class, which is hopefully not going to be more work than we can handle
with that E-portfolio. Then I get all
day Thursday to do whatever I want. Then
on Friday I have to classes unfortunately one at 9:30 then the other at 11. But
I am glad that all of my classes are early in the day even though it means that
I will have to wake up earlier than I want but it leaves me with the rest of
the day to catch up on my studies or even sleep.
